For those pursuing dance as a profession, the Advanced Program's proven balance of Limón modern with Natalie Desch, ballet with RAD Artistic Director Lynn Wallis and former soloist Chris Larsen, plus improvisation/composition with Jesse Dell, will instill the versatility demanded by today's finest companies and post-secondary programs.
Prerequisites: Minimum 3 years modern and/or RAD Gr. 8 / Intermediate or equivalent. *Students may select either classical or modern repertoire & composition. Advanced dancers may also consider applying for IGNITE; an auditioned, one week, pre-professional summer dance program for artists between the ages of 15 and 22 with a focus on the creative process. IGNITE will directly follow SunDance from July 21 to 26, 2014.
Former Limón company member, Natalie Desch and JDdance choreographer & dancer, Jesse Dell will challenge and motivate with the perfect balance of modern technique and choreography. RAD Artistic Director Lynn Wallis and international dance artist Chris Larsen lead ballet technique while CCDT's Carmen Duncan returns with her fiery Spanish dance sessions spiced with gypsy flair. It won't stop there with the contagious excitement of Ryan Scheel's Jazz.

CCDT's Royal Ballet trained Carmen Duncan will immerse her students in popular classical repertoire and her contagious enthusiasm for character dances from around the world while Nicole Nigro shares her love of modern dance with an emphasis on creative improvisation. Explosive energy fills the studio as resident CCDT jazz instructor Ryan Scheel turns it up.

This popular 1-week course, designed to introduce young dancers (ages 8-12) to intensive training, returns to SunDance from June 30 - July 4. Classes include modern and RAD ballet technique, character, and modern repertoire.

Ms. Lundmark ranks among Canada's leading specialists in movement for the young with over 30 years' experience as both dance instructor and choreographer. Her students have gone on to perform with leading companies in North America and Europe. She was on faculty at Ryerson Polytechnic University's Department of Dance specializing in teacher training. Ms. Lundmark is the founder of the School of CCDT in Toronto where she has trained the studio's second generation of teachers. She co-designed the Toronto District School Board's pioneering Drama/Dance Projects and for over three decades has led her Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre as its Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer.

Ms. Wallis graduated from the Royal Ballet Senior School in 1965 into the Royal Ballet Touring Company, becoming Ballet Mistress at the school in 1969. In 1984, at the invitation of Erik Bruhn, she joined the National Ballet of Canada, as Artistic Co-ordinator, and in 1986 she became Associate Artistic Director, with Valerie Wilder, and Co-Artistic Director from 1987 to 1989. In 1990, she was appointed Deputy Artistic Director of English National Ballet. Ms. Wallis joined the Royal Academy of Dance in 1994 as Artistic Director and is responsible for setting and maintaining the standards of dance training world-wide, developing the Academy’s Syllabus and planning courses internationally for students.

Chris enjoyed 15 years touring with Ballett-Art Francois Klaus (Switzerland), Hong Kong Ballet and 10 years with Birmingham Royal Ballet, several of these as Soloist. He complements this international stage experience with extensive work for BRB's Education Department and his Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma awarded at London's Royal Academy of Dance. We are happy to welcome Chris back for his second year teaching at SunDance!

Bringing 15+ years of international teaching experience with a specialized focus on RAD training, Carmen's enthusiasm and passion will leave you dancing in and out of the studio. Currently residing in Toronto, she is the Associate Artistic Director of the School of Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre.

Natalie has performed with the Limón Dance Company and Doug Varone and Dancers, as well as for choreographers Ariane Anthony, Daniel Charon, Adriane Fang, Toshiko Oiwa, and Jonathan Riedel. A faculty member at Hunter College (NY) since 2005, Natalie also teaches at the 92nd Street Y and Dance New Amsterdam in NYC. Additionally, she has staged the works of Varone, Limón, and Kylián on companies and universities worldwide. Natalie's choreography has been presented at the Juilliard Theater, Alice Tully Hall, the Clark Studio Theater, SUNY Purchase, the Limón Dance Company Choreography Project, the Dumbo Dance Festival and at Regional Dance America festivals.
Improvisation/Composition, Program A Modern Repertoire, Program B
A graduate from both LʼÉcole de Danse de Québec and The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Louis danced with Toronto Dance Theatre for 8 seasons. He has also worked with some of Canadaʼs most renowned choreographers including Peggy Baker, Serge Bennathan, Peter Chin, Robert Glumbek, Danny Grossman, Sasha Ivanochko, and Michael Trent. In 2009, Louis moved to Germany to join Kevin OʼDay – Ballett Nationaltheater Mannheim as a soloist.
His work has garnered him 3 Dora Mavor Moore Award nominations for Outstanding Performance and NOW Magazine named him "Toronto's Dance Most Valuable Player" in 2006. An award-winning choreographer, Louis' work has been presented to critical acclaim in Canada and Europe.

Nicole is currently enrolled in the Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance. She is grateful to be a faculty member at CCDT and Director of its Core Apprentice program. She continually strives to bring generosity, skill and joy into the classroom.
Jazz & Musical Theatre, Programs B & C
School of CCDT resident Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre Instructor, Ryan is a graduate of the Sheridan Institute Musical Theatre Performance Program. He has performed in numerous stage, television/film productions and music videos. Ryan is a choreographer and dancer working with such pop stars as PSY for the Much Music Video Awards, and most recently, the Queen of Pop, Madonna.
